I am all about body positivity and not conforming to societal beauty norms. I truly think women should feel comfortable aging and not feel pressure to fight the clock or look 20 years younger. That said, I really don’t love the way I look with gray hair. I tried. I did. During the beginning of the lockdown in 2020 when we couldn’t go to salons, I let my hair go and I was not happy. I see other women with gray hair and think they look gorgeous and I also think how nice it must be to not have to maintain coloring their hair. Ugh, the time and expense is A LOT. Plus I am very sensitive to chemicals in beauty products, especially hair products.
I do get many questions about my hair color and products, so let’s discuss! I have tried many salon hair colors and they all give me a massive headache except O&M which my colorist at Blow Me Away Salon uses. I have been coloring my hair since I was 40 years old. I used to go every 8 weeks and now I have to go every 4 weeks. Recently, I noticed that my grays are coming in faster and I really need to go every 3 weeks but I’m not doing that. I was recently offered Madison Reed’s Root Perfection Root Touch Up Kit to try and I let it sit in my bathroom for 6 months. I was terrified to try it. Finally I did and OMG this product is a game changer. Easy, inexpensive, quick and matched my color perfectly. Plus, it did not give me any reaction. I asked them if we could collaborate on a reel so I just posted a sponsored reel on instagram. I am not required to share on my newsletter, and this link is not an affiliate link or tracked at all, but I am sharing here because I think this is a fabulous product and I just bought 6 kits from Walmart. I will use it 3 weeks after salon color and then extend my salon treatments to every 6 weeks. So happy!!
I have been using Beauty Counter shampoo and conditioner for years, and I am going to try Madison Reed shampoo and conditioner now. Desiree Brown is my Beauty Counter consultant.
Agent Nateur Holi Mane Has anyone used this? It’s expensive but I would love to try it. I’ve read good things.
My daughters use Sugar Bear Hair gummies and love them for keeping their hair thicker.
I use this reverse tapered curling wand to style my hair. Great product and good value.
I keep this Revlon Hair Dryer Brush at my mom’s house and it works great. For some reason, at my house in Manhattan Beach, I need something stronger to smooth out my hair. I don’t understand it. I use this Dyson hair dryer, but I’ve always wondered about the Dyson Air Wrap. Anyone love that one??
As always, let’s share any fabulous finds with each other here!
xxPamela
I'm also up to every 4 weeks of color so Madison Reed is a great tip. Wondering if your stylist has an issue with the MR color taking the new color ( s)he applies over it??
I am dealing with hair loss and since I started using products by Virtue, I have definitely noticed a difference. There's quite a bit of research behind this company which sold me. I am not using the shampoo & conditioner with minoxidil .....just the one for thinning hair. They have various products to choose from. I am not noticing thicker hair...but a decrease in hair loss which is a huge benefit. Otherwise I'd be cooking with a hair net. Yikes. I am going to try their eyebrow product as well.
( menopause ugh! )
