September Favorites and a Recipe for Chicken Madeira!

Happy Monday!  If you’re here for the new Chicken Madeira recipe, that is the bonus content this week for paid subscribers (thank you!)  The rest of the newsletter is free!

Here are are few things that were on my radar in September:

Watching:  “Ripley” on Netflix Suspenseful, brooding, excellent cast. Many people couldn’t get past the fact that it is all in black and white.  Just deal with it.  It’s the right vibe.  We loved it.

Reading: Good Energy by Casey Means and Calley Means.  Casey Means, MD speaks my language and I am just starting this book which discusses how metabolic dysfunction causes most disease.  She is one of the best voices right now in health and nutrition.

Listening: If you want a preview of Casey Means to get an idea of her philosophy and her messaging, listen to her on Jay Shetty’s podcast.

Staub ceramic pumpkins | So adorable.  Start using these now through Thanksgiving to get the most mileage out of them.  I like the little .5 qt ones for dips, candy, nuts, even small desserts.  The .75 qt are good for pot pies and soup.  They come in burnt orange or black.

Snow Lotus Calm Spirit Aromatherapy Roll-on | My friend Jenni was using this and I loved the scent. Her acupuncturist recommended it. I have an allergy/sensitivity to many synthetic fragrances so I appreciate essential oils.  This particular product is used to calm the nervous system.

Fleece-lined leggings | I have a trip to Colorado coming up and we’ll be hiking and spending a lot of active time outdoors.  It’s going to be chilly so my girlfriend recommended these leggings.  I got the ones with pockets.

Tomato paste to clean stubborn stainless steel | Yes, you read that correctly.  My friend Leanne sent me a video of someone cleaning his stainless steel cookware with tomato paste.  I was kind of intrigued, although also skeptical.  I took a pan with very stubborn sticky oil residue and the tomato paste + a rough sponge cleaned it easily and naturally!  I was shocked!

If you bake challah … I love the recipe on my site, but I need tutorials for braiding.  My daughter went to a demo in Dallas by the Challah Prince and she said he was fantastic. I found his Youtube channel and I might attempt something a little more fancy this year!

Boot Season | I might need to splurge on a pair of new boots.  I am eyeing these Loeffler Randall and these Gucci.

People always ask me about restaurants in LA.  I had a great meal recently at Bianca in Culver City.

Even More Musings is an extension of my weekly newsletter, Monday Musings. My newsletter is a sponsor-free zone and is fully supported by readers like you.
