To Make New Year's Resolutions or Not? π
Happy MondayΒ and Happy New Year!!Β ββββββββββββββ
I hope you had a restful and joyful start to your new year! I spent time with extended family, but most importantly my husband and my three children.Β It was wonderful!
I used to set massive resolutions on January 1 - clean out and organize the entire house! No sugar for 30 days!Β Exercise 6 days a week!Β Meditate every day! Drink 64 ounces of water a day!Β Greens at every meal!Β Learn a new language! Donβt stress out! Suffice it to say, I ultimately felt like a failure because I set too many goals that were too hard to stick to. I think I also let social media and my friends dictate what MY goals should be. Letβs just say, I am never going to be a bikini model LOL.
January 1 is a natural date to want to start fresh. But we have so many opportunities to start over or try something new or change our minds and do things differently.Β I think about the first day of spring, the first day of the new school year, my birthday, Mondays, and every morning when I wake up.Β If January 1st comes and goes without having set some intentions, you are allowed to set goals whenever you want.Β Itβs your life!Β I encourage you to look at yourself in a more positive light and instead of seeing someone who is flawed and needs fixing, look at yourself as a person deserving of goodness and love.
Going forward, I am personally striving for more connection with people I love and care about - this includes you! And I am also focusing on being more self-compassionate. It is important to me to make decisions based on love, and that includes for myself too. I may come up with some mini goals too because achieving a goal is a great dopamine hit! Β An effective way to create a new habit is to build on an existing one. A mini goal I have is getting more natural light outside, especially first thing in the morning.Β I would like to start my day with my hot water outside instead of inside as much as possible. Another mini goal could be to start meditating again.Β How about 1 minute of daily meditation to start?Β
I want to continue getting to know you all better. I am proud of this community I have built and you have been kind, supportive and generous with each other on zooms, Instagram and Facebook.Β Please feel free to reach out to me anytime and let me know how I can help you more in the kitchen, with your health goals, or just find more joy at home. Wishing you all a healthy and happy 2023!!
xx, Pamela
