Happy Monday!
This week’s newsletter includes a bonus for paid subscribers at the bottom — my Matzo Pockets recipe and a Deconstructed Deviled Eggs recipe (thank you for your support 💛).
My family celebrates Easter, and my husband’s family celebrates Passover, so we get to enjoy both! This year, my daughter Anna hosted a beautiful Passover Seder at her apartment, and it was truly so special. Easter lunch is always at my mom’s house, and I’ll be helping her this year (not that she needs it!) My side of the family is Italian, so there’s definitely an Italian influence on our menu. Here’s what we’re making:
Hors d’oeuvres
Pizza Rustica A classic Italian Easter pie filled with cheeses and cured meats. This one’s very traditional in my family. I usually skip it because I’m not a big fan of pork and it’s pretty rich, but it’s cut into tiny pieces and always makes an appearance.
Deviled Eggs I prefer my quick version — scroll to the bottom for the recipe!
First Course
Pasta with Asparagus and Peas We usually serve pasta as a small first course. A reminder to save your pasta water — it really makes the dish come together!

Main Course
Slow-Roasted Lamb with Mint Chimichurri I taught this in my March 2025 online cooking class, and it’s the only lamb dish I truly enjoy — tender, flavorful, and totally foolproof.
Spatchcocked Honey-Lemon Roasted Chicken Juicy and citrusy — perfect for those who don’t eat lamb.
Roasted Vegetables with Feta Drizzle A medley of seasonal vegetables roasted to perfection and topped with a tangy feta drizzle.
Perfect Spring Salad A bright mix of greens, herbs, and vinaigrette. I’ll add in some vegetables that aren’t in the roasted veggie dish to keep things balanced.
Desserts
Lemon Ice Torte with Strawberry-Rhubarb Sauce — light, tart, and refreshing.
Coconut Macaroons Chewy and sweet coconut treats
Carrot Cake A moist and spiced cake topped with creamy frosting. I have a grain-free carrot cake recipe too.
Torte Caprese A light, flourless chocolate and almond cake from Capri. Or we will make the flourless chocolate brownie cookies.
Fresh Berries with Mint
Easter Chocolates My aunt always brings chocolates from Al Richards in Bayonne, NJ, and this year I sent my mom a big chocolate Easter egg from Giadzy. We sometimes order a colomba, but I told my mom we already have plenty. FYI, Colomba is a traditional Italian Easter cake shaped like a dove and similar in texture to panettone, but typically made with candied orange peel and topped with an almond-sugar glaze. You can order a beautifully wrapped artisanal Colomba from Giadzy here .
