February Favorites and Making Something out of Nothing: Cauliflower Puttanesca
Happy Monday, and happy March! Here are some things that were on my radar in February:
I am generally cooking multiple things at once, and one of my assistants found this app with multiple timers where you can label each timer. It's helpful when you can’t remember which timer was for which recipe! Timer+
I listened to an amazing podcast recently that really made an impact on me. Rich Roll interviewed Ellen Langer, a Harvard psychology professor known as the 'Mother of Mindfulness.' However, 'mindfulness' in this context does not refer to meditation. Dr. Langer is focused on attention and the power of thought on our health. Such a fascinating discussion, and I am very interested in her book, The Mindful Body: Thinking Our Way to Chronic Health.
I am concerned about the negative impact of social media and cell phones on our youth, especially young girls. I have no idea what to do about it, but I am ready to support any initiative to help. I saw this book, The Anxious Generation: How the Great Rewiring of Childhood is Causing an Epidemic of Mental Illness and thought it was coming out at an appropriate time.
This Jenni Kayne cardigan is pretty perfect and hits me just right. I wish she would also make it in some jewel tones, but her color palette is all neutrals. I subscribe to her emails and there is always a discount code coming in my inbox.
Why is there always something annoying about an iPhone update? I just performed the most recent update and learned about a new feature in the Privacy Settings called “Journaling Suggestions” and within that “Discoverable by Others,” which allows anyone near you to know your full name and location. Uh, no thanks. Make sure you click that setting OFF.
Next book on my list is We All Want Impossible Things by Catherine Newman.
My mom and her friend came for a visit recently and I took them to the Getty Villa in Malibu. I had not been in over 20 years. What a treasure and I highly recommend visiting if you come to LA.
Target’s Good & Gather line of food products is quite good. I have tried many items, including the canned tuna, and I notice they have well-priced organic fruits and vegetables too. A good option right now while grocery prices are so high. What are some of your favorite Good & Gather products that you recommend I try?
I’ve seen a lot of people sharing Barbara O’Neill’s “flu bomb” natural remedy and I’m going to keep it in my back pocket just in case!
Consider being a paid subscriber to get Even More Musings! Today I am sharing a fabulous “Cauliflower Puttanesca” that I came up with when Hubs said, “what’s for dinner? We don’t seem to have anything here.” LOL, Hubs. I accept the challenge! Plus I link everything I use and all my favorite products for this recipe AND a new chocolate that blew me away, and a toothpaste that my sister-in-law gave me that is a new favorite.
