A Few Things You Asked About

pamelasalzman.substack.com

Happy Monday!

Over the last few weeks I’ve had inquiries about some things I’ve worn, mentioned, drank, eaten and I thought this week’s newsletter would be the best place to share them.  Not a single brand or product is sponsored.

Mantra Matcha You know I’m an avid matcha drinker and I love it with a little plant milk and a drop of stevia.  I drink Encha latte grade matcha, but my friend Chrissy gave me a packet of her favorite, Mantra Matcha, which is also third-party tested and free of heavy metals, etc.  I love it!  For those of you who don’t love the grassy flavor of matcha, but want the health benefits, Mantra Matcha has some (naturally) flavored matchas - cinnamon, goji berry, banana-cacao, ginger, and more.

COS Funnel Cashmere Sweater (I wore this in my IG live with Lisa) Bought this in a size S and it is oversized, but I love it.  I’ve been wearing it over skinny jeans or a slim jean skirt with boots.  Super cozy!

COS Slim-fit Wool T-shirts I bought these in two colors in size small and they are the perfect t-shirt to wear under a blazer or cardigan if you want more polish than a cotton t-shirt. They are not itchy and not as warm as cashmere, so very nice for layering.

GAP Oversized Cotton Striped Turtleneck Sweater I bought this in navy and white stripes, size XS, and it is no longer available.  It is available in tan/white stripe and solid black. The stripe version is a good dupe of the $500 Toteme sweater that I have seen everywhere.

I was on the Good Instincts podcast in a two-part episode.

Part 1

Part 2

Furikake I LOVE condiments!  I especially love ones that don’t have garbage ingredients and might actually have benefits!  I am crazy about furikake, a Japanese kelp and sesame seed blend. You can find it at Trader Joe’s or in the aisle with other Asian products at many supermarkets.  It’s fabulous on a bowl of simple ingredients, on warm grains, fish, or steamed vegetables. I have been using it on the Salmon-Sushi Bake that I taught in my January class. Delicious!

The Last of Us Hubs and I started watching this HBO show and after 1 episode, I was out.  The minute I saw a zombie, I was O.U.T.  But then a few of my friends were talking about it, and the consensus was that you had to get to episode 3.  They were right and Hubs and I are back IN.

Alec’s ice cream Ice cream is my favorite dessert, but I do not digest dairy ice cream well.  And even though I have found a couple non-dairy ice creams that I enjoy, nothing compares to “real” ice cream. Well, let me tell you about Alec’s organic ice cream. It is truly the most delicious ice cream I’ve ever found in a supermarket. It is made with certified regenerative organic A2 dairy and carbon-neutral regenerative cane sugar.  Better for digestion and better for the planet. My tummy doesn’t lie. Favorite flavors: Salted Caramel Latte, Mint Chocolate Chip, Chocolate Chocolate Chip, and they just came out with Peanut Butter Fudge Honeycomb which is to die for.

I have always been interested in Traditional Chinese Medicine and continue to learn. I discovered a wonderful Instagram account @drlizcarter .

She posts terrific reels of bite-size nuggets of information about Chinese medicine.  I think she has a lovely way about her. (She does not follow me and does not know I exist. Just sharing a new find for me.)

Athleta Workout Jacket It has been the coldest, rainiest winter in the over 30 years I have lived in Los Angeles.  I layer for pickleball like I’m going skiing LOL. I showed up to the court recently and all three of my friends were wearing this jacket.  So cute.  I need to buy it.  The forecast is not looking balmy for the foreseeable future.

That’s all for today. Have a great week! xx

Hi Pamela - I have a couple things to tell you:

1) The Last of Us was filmed right here in Alberta. Makes us proud.

2) I have made (twice) your Sugar Snap Peas, with Radish, Mint and Lemon. AMAZING! Such a nice side dish to serve to company. Nice change from salad. My husband wants me to try it with Feta.

Every dish I have made from you has been very flavorful. Thanks for your great recipes.
